meet the maker

Hi, I’m Ry.

I find joy in making things. I've built a career out of the digital kind, but spend most of my free time on the rest of it: food, music, stories—the list goes on.

Based in Brooklyn. Grew up in Atlanta. Blossomed in San Francisco.

About me

Arc

Finance degree, analyst internship, then content, now design. It might read like I couldn't pick a lane, which isn't entirely untrue, but every move got me closer to building the things I wanted to build. Each step taught me different chunks of building great stuff. I'm not a traditionally-trained visual designer, by any stretch—but if you're looking for someone who brings a whole toolkit to the table, I might be your person.

Role

On one hand, I see my role as craft and construction, imagining and building. I know enough to build things end-to-end, from inception to production—but I also know my limits, and when to ask for help or tap in a teammate. On the other hand, I see my role as supporting those around me: keeping time free to listen, unblock, and think through problems with those I work with. The best work I've done, by far, has been with people who taught me to work and think this way.

Craft

I've started to see design less as a singular craft and more as a way of working. Making things has never been cheaper or easier, so the judgment calls are what's left—taste and restraint aren't garnishes anymore, they're the meat. The bottleneck is no longer making—it's knowing what's worth making.

Process

There's no single process—it shifts with the size of the thing, the problem, and the team. What doesn't shift is starting from questions. I'd rather understand before deciding, which means moving deliberately, not slowly. Informed decisions, not guesswork.

In terms of tools, I see Figma and Claude Code as both primary and complementary—a canvas and a coding surface, one visual, one structural. Figma is where the design lives and evolves; Claude Code is where it becomes real. The work moves back and forth between them, as often as necessary.

Collaboration

Teammates are everything—the thinking that happens between people is impossible to recreate in a vacuum. While AI has made all of us more individually capable, it's only strengthened my conviction that collaboration is what unlocks the best of what's possible.

In practice: I'll argue hard and drop it fast. I'd rather be wrong quickly than right slowly. And I share early and often, instead of waiting for the polished reveal.

What’s Next?

Something big. Stay tuned...

About the site

Design

Inspired by the infinite canvas, the site's designed to feel like a small slice of something much bigger. You're zoomed into one part of the whole, with more hiding just past the edges.

Build

Designed in Figma, built with Claude Code, animated with Framer Motion, shipped from Warp. It's a Next.js app, server-rendered so that everything here is readable by people and machines alike.
